Roll-off device V3 / V3 XL

Great on V3 and V3XL as well as the studio!

I bought the roll-off device to enhance my V3 XL and I LOVE this thing. My biggest frustration with graphic recording is guestimating how much paper I will need. No matter how much I plan, how many conversations I have with the client, etc. there are always changes on the fly that demand adjustments. The roll-off device gives you practically endless paper without the frustration of wrangling paper.

I have a fun "trick" I like to do when pre-charting. (Great for facilitating vs. live recording.) I pre-chart the exercises in the order we will work through them, then roll everything back up onto the roll. During the meeting, I gradually pull out the chart(s) for a carefully timed reveal. This helps people stay focused on the immediate discussion and not get ahead of themselves. It also allows me to have most of it "in the can" for the meeting and work through a specific process easily. When live capturing as a graphic recorder, I have the confidence of never needing another couple of feet of paper to get that last fabulous point that always shows up at the end. ;)

To make even better use of the roll-off device, I have added brackets to studs in my studio so that I can pre-chart, then roll it back up, then remove the roll-off device from the wall (attached with bolts and wing nuts) and put it in my transport bag for the gig. I really feel I'm getting a lot of extra benefit from it.
